Kono, sono, ano, and dono are the verbal pointers you use to call out a thing, a person, or a place. They ain’t standin’ on their own—they always gotta be followed by a noun. Think of ’em as the ultimate crew. They roll deep, always with another word to back ’em up.
The whole game is about proximity, dig? It’s all about where the object is in relation to you and the dude you’re talkin’ to.
Kono (この) is for something right here, next to me, the speaker. Like, “Yo, pass me this piece right here.”
Sono (その) is for something next to you, the listener. Like, “Hand me that stash you got.”
Ano (あの) is for something way over there, far from both of us. Like, “See that car over there? The one with the tinted windows? That’s our getaway.”
Dono (どの) is the wild card. It’s the question word. You use it when you’re tryna ask, “Which one?” out of a bunch of options. It’s like, “Out of which car is the boss’s money?”

きん の のべぼう (Kin no nobebou)
English: Gold bar.
This right here is the ultimate stash. We ain’t talkin’ ’bout no little chain or ring. We talkin’ ’bout a solid block of that shiny stuff, the kind you stack up in a safe. It’s the universal currency, the heavy hitters’ bank account. When you see a kin no nobebō, you know that paper trail is long gone and the true wealth is right in your hands.
びこうする (Bikou suru)
English: To follow; to tail.
So you got eyes on your target, right? You ain’t just walkin’ right behind them. You gotta stay back, blend in with the crowd, make sure they don’t know you’re there. You’re bikō suru them—tailin’ them like a phantom, watchin’ their every move, seein’ where they go, who they meet. It’s all about gettin’ the intel without gettin’ caught.
みっこくする (Mikkoku suru)
English: To snitch; to inform.
This is the one that’ll get you sent up, no question. When a cat goes mikkoku suru, he’s a rat. He’s tellin’ the police, the feds, whoever, about the business. He’s droppin’ dimes, turnin’ state’s evidence on his own people. Don’t be that dude. The streets don’t forgive a snitch, and once you get that label, you’re done for. Word to your mother.
