This is like “from ~ to ~,” but it’s vague. It’s not a hard start and a hard stop. It’s “from around this point up to around that point.” It’s fuzzy on the edges, you feel me? It describes a whole range or a span of time/space, not just two specific points.

This is how you describe your turf. You don’t say, “My turf ends exactly at this crack in the sidewalk.” Hell no. You say, “We run shit from the bridge over to the stadium” (橋からスタジアムにかけて). It covers the whole area in between, not just the two endpoints. It’s about the entire span.

You just take [Noun 1] (the start point) and add から (kara), then [Noun 2] (the end point) and add にかけて (ni kakete). These nouns are almost always time or location. It’s perfect for describing a crime scene, a patrol route, or when a deal went down.
