This ain’t just “a lot.” This is messy. It means something is covered in something undesirable, like dirt, blood, or mistakes. It’s a strong, negative word.

Common Situation: Describing a flop. “The plan was full of holes (計画は穴だらけだった).” Or describing a crime scene. “The car was covered in bullet holes (車は弾痕だらけだった).”

Metaphor: Think of a wall that’s supposed to be clean. 〜だらけ is when that wall is covered in sloppy, ugly graffiti tags. Not one or two, but the whole damn thing is a mess of overlapping, bad tags.
