“Yeah,” Mike says. “We ran from the cops after the job, so we put on a lot of miles.”

“What’s this weird stain on the back seat?” Joe asks.

“I don’t know nothin’,” Mike says. “It ain’t my fault. Maybe it’s from your robbery?”

“I didn’t do no crime,” Joe says. “This stain is here ’cause your plan was a bust. The gang boss is gonna be mad. We might even get sent up the river to the joint, to the big house.”

“Shut up!” Mike yells. “I didn’t do it!”

The two of ’em kept screamin’ at each other.
