In some burg, there was this old laundromat, run by a guy named Mr. Finn. This guy, he was an old-timer, a made man from one of the families. The young wiseguys, the up-and-comers, they’d all slide into his joint to get the skinny on things.

The rumblin’ of the washin’ machines was a racket, but see, that’s where all the fellas would spill their guts, confess their sins to Finn. He’d just listen, quiet-like, and nod. The guy always gave solid advice, so everybody, and I mean everybody, showed him respect.

One day, this new kid, a real greenhorn, comes in, sweatin’ bullets ’cause he thinks the cops are gonna pinch him. He says to Finn, “I ain’t doin’ no time in the slammer. What do I do?” Finn just gives him a pat on the shoulder and says, “It’s gonna be OK.”

Finn’s advice, it was always simple, ya know? But for some reason, it always made the guys feel like everything was gonna be alright. They all figured he had a kind of wisdom that was stronger than any law in this town.

But here’s the kicker, the thing nobody knew. Turns out, Finn was deaf as a post. Got his bells rung in an accident when he was a kid. He couldn’t hear a word these guys were sayin’. He was just readin’ the looks on their mugs and throwin’ ’em a few kind words.

Stay on that grind. Peace out.
